The late Vassilis Papakostas, in the “ History of Nisyros”, NISYRIAKA, vol. 3 and 4, reports that a small marble statue from Nisyros is on display at the Berlin Museum. With this impulse, we began an investigation and finally found the pictured statue at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (Berlin State Museums), a photograph of which was kindly sent to us by the director of the museum, Mr. Martin Maischberger, only to post it on this place on our site without the right to copy it. It is a Cycladic idol with index number Sk 575 and alternative no. Misc. 8428. It has been acquired in 1874 from the former private collection of S. Komnos in Athens. It has been attributed to the Keros-Syros group and dated around 2800/2700 – 2400/2300 B.C. Currently, it is not on display, but kept in storerooms in the 2012 opened “Archäologisches Zentrum" and has been listed in the museum's marble statues, A. Schwarzmaier - A. Scholl (eds.), Catalog of Sculptures in the Antikensammlung der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin, vol. II 2: Griechische Rundskulpturen bis zum Hochhellenismus (2019), pp. 7-8 cat. 5 (author: Laura-Concetta Rizzotto).
